    The gentle special cream contains only a few necessary ingredients and thus contributes to the prevention of from skin irritations.     What makes the skin dry.
    The skin is the largest and one of the most sensitive organs of man. The top layer of the skin, the epidermis, also called the skin barrier, protects the body from a variety of environmental influences, irritants and UV radiation.
    It prevents the evaporation of water and thus maintains the natural moisture of the skin. A weakened skin barrier, in turn, is no longer able to control the moisture balance of the skin, which causes the skin to It brings desiccation.  Dry skin is widespread and characterized by a lack of water in the epidermis. The most common symptoms are itching, redness, cracked or flaky skin and dry spots.
    The skin is then often very sensitive, irritated and also stressed. Contact with detergents and disinfectants, soap and certain medications can further aggravate this condition. It is also known that dry skin is sensitive to weathering and is more common in cold winter months and in dry climates. This is also a typical symptom in people with a history of atopic dermatitis.
    The skin barrier consists of flat horny cells surrounded by special barrier lipids. Of particular importance here are: ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids. Only when these barrier lipids are present in a natural ratio to each other can the skin retain its moisture and feel soft and supple.
    With a disturbed skin barrier, the lipid ratio is no longer in equilibrium, the barrier becomes "leaky" – evaporation rises. The skin then releases all the fats from their natural stores within the first few hours to counteract this. It then takes several days for the skin to replenish its stores of naturally occurring lipids.
    If the skin barrier is unable to recover due to continuous stress, the skin can become chronically dry or irritated. Some people also have a genetically determined lower ability to replicate the natural lipids, and therefore suffer from particularly sensitive skin. Since our skin is exposed to stresses every day that weaken the protective and moisture-retaining function of the skin, hydration plays an important role in skin care.
