1. What is calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive and what is it used for?
Calcium-Sandoz D osteo intenses contains the active ingredients calcium and vitamin D3 and is a calcium vitamin D3 preparation.

for prophylaxis and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in older people.
as calcium and vitamin D supplement for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis (bone loss).
2. What should you consider before taking calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive?
calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive must not be taken:
if you are allergic to calcium, vitamin D3, benzyl alcohol or one of the other components of this medicine mentioned in section 6.
with increased calcium blood levels (hypercalcaemia).
In the case of increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalcuria).
If you suffer from an overfunction of the parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism).

Sarcoidosis (a disease of the immune system that can affect your liver, lungs, skin or lymph nodes): take calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive with special care if you suffer from sarcoidosis. There is a risk that this medicine is too effective and can lead to an overdose of calcium in the body. The calcium levels in blood and urine must be monitored.
Patients with immobilization osteoporosis: In this case, this medicine must be used with special caution, since the calcium level can rise in your blood.
Children and adolescents:
Calcium-Sandoz d osteo intensive must not be taken by children and adolescents under the age of 18 (see section "Calcium-Sandoz d osteo intensive must not be taken").
Taking calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive together with other medicines:
inform your doctor or pharmacist if you take/use other medicines, have recently taken or intend other medicines, to take/use other medicines.
while treatment with digitalis glycosides (heart glycosides from the thimble), cardiac arrhythmia can occur. Strict medical control including ECG examination and control of the calcium blood level is therefore required.

These preparations should therefore be taken at least 3 hours before calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive.
Between the administration of Colestyramine (drug for reducing increased cholesterol), orlistat (medicines for the treatment of obesity) or laxatives, such as paraffin oil, and calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive should be adhered to as long as possible, since vitamin D otherwise cannot be accepted correctly.
The simultaneous administration of calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive and rifampicin, phenytoin (a preparation for the treatment of epilepsy) or barbiturate (sleeping pills) can lead to a reduced effect of vitamin D.
The simultaneous administration of calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive and glucocorticoids (e.g. cortisone) can lead to a reduced effect of vitamin D and to reduce calcium levels in the blood.
The additional intake of calcium and vitamin D should only be carried out under medical supervision and requires a regular check of calcium levels in blood and urine.

Please note that oxalic acid (e.g. contained in spinach and rhubarb) and phytic acid (e.g. contained in whole grain products) the calcium intake in the intestine can reduce. Before and after eating food with a high content of oxal or phytic acid, you should not take calcium-containing medicines for 2 hours.

pregnancy:
If you are pregnant, you can take calcium-sandoz d osteo intensely in the event of a calcium and vitamin D lack. The daily dose of 1/2 chewing tablet must not be exceeded. During pregnancy, the daily dose of calcium should not be higher than 1,500 mg and the daily dose of vitamin D3 not higher than 600 i.E. This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium pro-tablet, i.e. it is almost "sodium-free". This medicine contains 1.00 mg aspartame per chewing tablet. Aspartam is a source for phenylalanine. It can be harmful if you have a phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare congenital disease in which phenylalanine accumulates because the body cannot dismantle it sufficiently. This medicine contains 152.89 mg Sorbitol Pro chewing tablet. It also contains isomalt and sucrose. Please only take this medicine after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from intolerance to certain sugar. Calcium-Sandoz d osteo intensive can be harmful to the teeth (caries). This medicine contains 0.02 mg benzyl alcohol per chewing tablet. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you suffer from a liver or kidney disease, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice, as large amounts of benzyl alcohol can be enriched in your body (so-called "metabolic acidosis").
3. How can calcium-sandoz d osteo intensive be taken?

The recommended dose is:
Adults and older people take 1 chewing tablet daily (according to 1,000 mg calcium and 880 IE. [International units] vitamin D3). Pregnant women only take 1/2 chewing tablets daily (corresponding to 500 mg calcium and 440 I.E. [International units] vitamin D3). The daily dose of ^ chewing tablet must not be exceeded.
