Content of the pack and further information
1. What is Ferro Sanol Comp and what is it used for?
Ferro Sanol Comp is an oral iron/folic acid/vitamin B12 preparation. Ferro Sanol Comp is used for iron deficiency, iron deficiency anemia and the simultaneous prevention of a defect in vitamin B12 and folic acid.
2. What should you consider before taking Ferro Sanol Comp?
ferro sanol comp must not be taken:
if you are allergic to iron, folic acid, vitamin B12 or one of the other components of this drug mentioned in section 6.
If you have a narrowing of the esophagus.
if you suffer from hereditary iron storage disease (hemochromatosis).
If you suffer from iron overload (chronic hemolysis, thalassemia, other hemoglobinopathies).
if you suffer from iron recycling disorders (e.g. sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia).
if you have a megaloblastary anemia as a result of an isolated vitamin B12 deficiency.
If you repeat or receive chronic blood transfusions.
of children under the age of 6 (with a body weight of less than 20 kg).
Warnings and precautions:
Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Ferro Sanol Comp.
special caution when taking Ferro Sanol Compr is required:
if you suffer from existing diseases of the digestive tract such as chronic -inflammatory bowel diseases, intestinal narrowing, protrusions of the intestine (diverticula), gastric mucosal inflammation (gastritis), stomach and intestinal ulcers. The occurrence and severity of damage to the gastrointestinal mucosa depends on the local concentration of free iron ions. Due to the special dosage form of Ferro Sanol Compr, high local active ingredient concentrations are avoided and possible mucosal damage is minimized.
In older people with initially unexplainable iron deficiency or anemia. Here you have to search carefully according to the cause of the iron deficiency or the source of bleeding.
If you suffer from severe and chronic kidney disease and need erythropoetin, then iron should be administered intravenously, since orally administered iron is poorly absorbed in uremic individuals.
In patients with liver dysfunction and in patients who suffer from alcoholism.
In the event of a lack of preliminary cells of the red blood cells (megaloblast anemia), unclear cause. Your doctor must exclude a vitamin B12 deficiency before the start of treatment.
In the treatment of folic acid and vitamin B12 deficiency (including cobalamine Europe), since the daily dose of 1.5 mg folic acid and 7.50 PG vitamin B12 (daily amount of 3 capsules Ferro Sanol Comp) is not suitable for this.
Especially in children, since overdose can lead to poisoning.
Note:
Discoloration of the teeth can occur during treatment with Ferro Sanol Comp. According to the scientific literature, these tooth discoloration can spontaneously resolve after stopping the drug or must be removed by using a sanding toothpaste or by professional tooth cleaning.
Taking Ferro Sanol Compy together with other medicinal products:
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you take/use other medicines, recently taken/use other medicines or intend to accept/apply other medicines. Iron inhibits the absorption of many medicines. The time interval between taking Ferro Sanol Comp and the following drug should be as long as possible. Keep at least one time interval of 2 hours.
Intensification of the effect and possible reinforcement of side effects:
Pain and rheumatism (e.g. salicylates and phenylbutazone) can increase a mucous membrane effect in the gastrointestinal tract of Ferro Sanol Comp. The simultaneous administration of intravenous iron-containing drugs together with oral dosage forms of iron can cause a waste of blood pressure (hypotension) or a collapse due to the too fast iron release and satiety of the transfer. The combination is not recommended. Anticonvulsiva (medicinal products for the treatment of seizures) can increase the willingness to seize when using high doses.
Shaving of the effect:
With the simultaneous administration of iron with bisphosphonates (medicinal products for the treatment of osteoporosis), both the absorption of iron and the intake of the bisphosphonates is reduced. Colestyramin or Ca2+-, MG2+-, AL3+-containing medicines (e.g. antacids, calcium and magnesium salts for substitution) inhibit the absorption of iron. Penicillamine, oral gold compounds, L-methyldopa, levodopa and L-thyroxine are worse off while the iron is administered. Proton pump inhibitors (medicines that reduce stomach acid) such as B. omeprazole can reduce the absorption of oral iron. Therefore, a dose adjustment or the exchange through an intravenously administered iron -containing medicine may be required. There are no data from clinical studies. Cytostatics, sulfonamides, antiepileptics and barbiturates affect the absorption of folic acid. The absorption of fluorchinolons (certain antibiotics, e.g. ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, norfloxacin, gatifloxacin and Ofloxacin) is greatly reduced while iron. Fluorchinolons should be taken at least 2 hours before or at least 4 hours according to Ferro Sanol Comp. If iron administration with tetracyclines (certain antibiotics, e.g. doxycycline), both the absorption of iron and the absorption of the tetracycline is reduced. The administration of Doxycyclin together with Ferro Sanol Comp. Between taking Ferro Sanol Comp and Tetracyclines except Doxycycline, a distance of at least 3 hours should be observed.
Note:
There can be a dark coloring of the chair, which is not based on a gastrointestinal bleeding. The usual tests on traces of blood in the chair can be wrongly positive.
Taking Ferro Sanol Compy along with food and drinks:
in vegetable foods (e.g. grain products and vegetables) contained substances that form with iron (e.g. phytates, oxalates and phosphates), as well as components of coffee, tea, Milk and colage drinks inhibit the absorption of iron in the blood. Calcium-containing foods and drinks should be taken independently of Ferro Sanol Compr, since the absorption of iron is reduced when taking it at the same time. The time interval between taking Ferro Sanol Comp and the above -mentioned food and drinks should be as long as possible. Keep at least one time interval of 2 hours.
pregnancy, lactation and fertility/child ability:
If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you are probably pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this drug.
pregnancy and lactation:
In the recommended dosage there is no restriction for the use of Ferro Sanol Comp.
Fertile/childhood ability:
There is no data on impairment of the fertility/childhood ability in connection with the use of Ferro Sanol Compation in humans.
traffic and ability to use machines:
No special precautions are required.
Ferro Sanol Compy contains lactose:
Please only take Ferro Sanol Compr after consultation with your doctor if you know that you suffer from intolerance to certain sugar.
3. How can Ferro Sanol Comps be taken?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this package insert or take the agreement with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. For all age groups, weight classes and dosage groups, the dosage should be adapted according to the needs of the patient and the reaction of the clinical variables (e.g. hemoglobin, ferritin, transfer) should be monitored by your doctor. A daily dose of 5 mg Fe2+/kg body weight should not be exceeded. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is included:
adults and children from 6 years (with at least 20 kg body weight):
3 times a day 1 hard capsule.
older patients:
There is no clinical data that requires dose adjustment in older patients.
Patients with kidney or liver dysfunction:
There is no clinical data that requires dose adjustment in patients with kidney or liver dysfunction. With caution in patients with liver dysfunction and in patients suffering from alcoholism, Ferro Sanol Compation should be used. In patients with chronic kidney disease that require erythropoetin, iron should be administered intravenously.
Children and adolescents:
FERRO SANOL COP may not be used in children under the age of 6 (with a body weight of less than 20 kg) (see section 2).
Type of application:
Please take Ferro Sanol Compy with sufficient water (preferably a glass). The intake should be taken soberly in the morning (approx. 1 hour before breakfast) or at a sufficient distance of about 2 hours before or after a meal.

To do this, carefully pull the capsule covers apart over a spoon and collect the capsule contents (pellets and a mini tray) in the spoon. After taking the pellets and the mini tray, you should drink enough water.
Duration of the application:
The doctor determines the duration of the application. Filling the body iron memory usually takes - depending on the severity of the anemia and the individual circumstances - between 3 to 6 months. If you have forgotten to take Ferro Sanol Comp:
don't take the double amount if you have forgotten the prior intake. If you have accidentally forgot the taking of Ferro Sanol Compr one or more times, the overall therapy duration will be extended.
If you cancel the take of Ferro Sanol Comp:
If you cancel the take of Ferro Sanol Compr, the therapy success is at risk.
