Content of the pack and further information
1. What is Calcivit D forte and what is it used for?
Calcivit d forte is a mineral preparation with vitamin D3 (Colecalciferol), a hormone regulating the calcium and phosphate metabolism. Calcivit D Forte is used to compensate for simultaneous calcium and vitamin D deficiency in older people and to support specific osteoporosis therapy in patients with proven or high risk of simultaneous calcium and vitamin D deficiency.
2. What should you consider before taking calcivit d forte?
calcivit d forte must not be taken:
if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol, soy, peanut or one of the other components of this medicine mentioned in section 6 are
with too high calcium concentrations in the blood (hypercalzemia) and and /or increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalcuria)
in diseases and/or conditions that lead to an increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalzemia) and/or increased calcium excretion in urine (hypercalcuria) (e.g. overfunction of the ancestors, a disease of the bone marrow [Myelom], a malignant bone tumor [bone metastases])
If you have a serious impairment of the kidney function
in kidney stones (nephrolithiasis)
in the case of tissue calculation of the kidney (nephrocalcinosis)
with too high vitamin D- Mirror (hypervitaminosis d).
Warnings and precautions:
Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Calcivit D Forte. During long-term treatment with Calcivit D Forte, your doctor must check the calcium level in the blood and monitor the kidney function by measuring the serum creatine value. Monitoring is particularly important in older patients who also receive certain drugs that increase heartpeaters (herzhousical glycosides) or diuretic medicines (diuretics) (see ", taking calcivit d forte together with other medicinal products",). This also applies if you have a pronounced tendency to form stone formation. If hypercalcemia occurs (too high calcium concentrations in the blood) or signs of kidney dysfunction, the dose must be reduced or taking Calcivit D Forte. If you suffer from a kidney dysfunction, vitamin D is careful to use the calcium and phosphate levels. In the case of severe kidney dysfunction, vitamin D in the form of Colecalciferol is not normally metabolized. Your doctor should therefore prescribe another vitamin D preparation. There are literature reports that indicate that citrate salts may lead to increased aluminum absorption. Calcivit D Forte contains citric acid. If you have a severely restricted kidney function and take aluminum -containing preparations, you should therefore consult your doctor before taking Calcivit D Forte. If you suffer from a certain lung disease (sarcoidosis), there is a risk of increased conversion of vitamin D into its effective form. The calcium level in the blood and urine should be monitored. If you are prescribed other vitamin D preparations at the same time, your doctor should take into account the dose of 880 i.e. vitamin D per effervescent tablet given with Calcivit D Forte. Additional intake of other vitamin D containing vitamin D should only be carried out under a close-meshed medical supervision. In these cases, regular monitoring of calcium levels in the blood and urine is required. When taking calcivit d forte, the calcium and alkali absorption (e.g. carbonates) from other sources (food, enriched food or other medicines) should be taken into account, since the simultaneous, high-dose recording to a milk alkali syndrome (Burnett syndrome) with Hyperkalzemia, metabolic alkalosis, kidney failure and soft tissue calcification can lead. When prescribing high doses, the calcium level in serum and urine should be checked. If you suffer from immobilization osteoporosis, there is an increased risk of the occurrence of hypercalcemia (too high calcium concentrations in the blood).
Children and adolescents:
Calcivit d forte is not intended for taking children.
Taking Calcivit D Forte together with other medicinal products:
inform your doctor or pharmacist if you take/apply other medicines, recently taken/use other medicines or intend to accept/apply other medicines. With simultaneous treatment with certain drugs that increase heartpeaters (herzous glycosides), their toxicity can increase. For this reason, patients who receive herzing glycosides must be monitored by a doctor using the electrocardiogram (EKG) and by determining the calcium content in the blood. Certain diuretic agents (thiazid diuretics) lead to a reduction in calcium excretion in the urine. Due to the increased risk of increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia), it is recommended to regularly monitor calcium blood level while using thiazide diuretics. The absorption and thus also the effectiveness of certain antibiotics (oral tetracycline) can be reduced by simultaneously taking calcivit d forte. For this reason, tetracycline-containing medicines should be taken at least 2 hours before or 4-6 hours after taking Calcivit D Forte. With simultaneous treatment with bisphosphonate or sodium fluoride preparations (medicinal products for the treatment of osteoporosis) or fluorchinolons (a certain antibiotic type), this should be taken at least 3 hours before calcivit d forte due to the risk of restricted absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. The absorption and thus the effectiveness of many other drugs (e.g. the mushroom agent ketoconazole, quinolone, some cephalosporins, iron and zinc preparations, scoty hormones, thyroid hormones and strontium ranelate) is reduced by simultaneous taking calcivit d forte. The absorption of aluminum and throat salts and thus also their toxicity is increased by the citric acid contained in Calcivit d forte. A distance of at least 2 hours should therefore be observed between taking such preparations and taking Calcivit D Forte. The simultaneous treatment with orlistat (a medicine for weight reduction), ion exchanger resins such as colestyramine or laxatives such as paraffin oil can reduce the absorption of vitamin D in the gastrointestinal tract. The simultaneous administration of calcivit d forte and rifampicin (antibiotic), phenytoin (medium against epilepsy and against certain cardiac arrhythmias) or barbiturates (sleeping pills) can reduce the effect of vitamin D. Systemic corticosteroids (funds to suppress immune defense and with certain inflammation) reduce calcium absorption. During a simultaneous application, it may be necessary to increase the dose of Calcivit D Forte.
Taking Calcivit D Forte together with food and drinks:
Please note that dairy products have a high calcium content. A liter of milk can contain up to 1,200 mg calcium. This should be taken into account when taking Calcivit D Forte. Oxalic acid (contained in spinach and rhubarb) as well as phytic acid (contained in whole grains) can inhibit calcium absorption through the formation of insoluble complexes with calcium ions. Patients should not take calcium -containing medicines during the absorption of such foods.
pregnancy and lactation:
If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
pregnancy:
During pregnancy, daily intake should not exceed 1,500 mg calcium and 600 I.E. vitamin D. In the event of overdosing vitamin D during pregnancy, malformations were demonstrated in animal experiments. Overdoses of calcium and vitamin D must be avoided in pregnant women, since a permanently increased calcium level in the blood has been associated with undesirable effects on the developing fetus. Calcivit D Forte should not be taken during pregnancy due to the high dosage of vitamin D.
Still -time:
Calcivit d forte can be taken during breastfeeding. Calcium and vitamin D pass into breast milk. This must be taken into account if the child receives additional gifts of vitamin D.
Road and ability to use machines:
There is no data on the influence of this drug on traffic. However, an influence is unlikely.
Calcivit d forte contains lactose, sucrose and sodium:
Please only take calcivit d forte after consultation with your doctor if you are aware that you suffer from intolerance to certain sugar. 1 effervescent tablet contains 4.2 mmol (96.2 mg) sodium. If you have to adhere to a salt arm of diet, you should take this into account.
3. How should Calcivit d forte be taken?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this package insert or take the agreement with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is 1,000 mg of calcium and 880 I.E. Vitamin D daily, accordingly 1 effervescent tablet.
Type of application
The effervescent tablet is dissolved in 1 glass of water and drunk immediately. The duration of the treatment must be decided individually. Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Calcivit D Forte is too strong or too weak.
If you have taken a larger amount of calcivit d forte than you should:
overdosing can be overdosing, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, increased thirst and increased fluid intake, increased urine excretion, dehydration, abdominal pain, constipation, muscle weakness, exhaustion, exhaustion , lead mental disorders, bone pain, limescale deposits in the kidneys and kidney stones. As a result of the increased calcium blood level, chronic overdosing can lead to vascular and organ calcification. In severe cases, cardiac arrhythmia can occur. If you suspect overdose, please inform your doctor immediately. This may take the necessary measures.
If you have forgotten the intake of Calcivit D Forte:
Do not take twice the amount if you have forgotten the prior intake.
If you cancel the intake of Calcivit D Forte:
you should interrupt the treatment or want to end prematurely, e.g. B. because the side effects that occur seem too strong for them, please speak to your doctor beforehand.
If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.
