1. What is ideos and what is it used for?
This medicine provides the body of calcium and vitamin D3 (also known as Colecalciferol). This medicine is used: in cases of a combined vitamin D and calcium deficiency in older patients and in connection with some treatment options for osteoporosis (a disease in which bone substance is broken down and increases the fragility of the bones), if a lack of vitamin D and calcium or the risk of such a defect.
2. What should you consider before taking ideos?
If your doctor has found an intolerance to certain types of sugar, contact him/her before using this drug. Ideos must not be taken:
if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol (vitamin D3), soy, peanut or one of the other components of this medicine mentioned in section 6.
If you have an increased calcium content in your blood (hypercalcemia).
if you have an increased excretion of calcium in urine (hypercalciurie).
If you suffer from an illness that goes hand in hand with hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria (e.g. an overactivity of the parathyroid glands, an illness of the bone marrow, a malignant bone tumor, bone metastases).
If you suffer from a limited ability of the kidneys to exhaust substances (renal insufficiency).
if you suffer from kidney stones (calcium lithiasis), or if you have calcium deposits in the kidneys (nephrocalcinosis).
if you have an excessive supply of vitamin D (hypervitaminosis D).
If you are immobilized/bedridden for a long time and you have increased concentrations of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia) and/or an increased excretion of calcium in urine (hypercalciuria). Your doctor will allow you to take this drug as soon as you can go again.
Warnings and precautionary measures:
Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking ideos. If treated with another vitamin D preparation, the total dose of vitamin D should be calculated. The calcium content in the blood and urine should be checked regularly. High calcium and vitamin D values can be harmful to health. Ask your doctor or pharmacist. If you also consume calcium (e.g. with nutritional supplements or food enriched with food supplements) and at the same time take carbonate -containing medicines (e.g. so -called antacida), the calcium content in the blood and urine should be checked regularly. With long-term treatment, regular blood and urine examinations are necessary to monitor the calcium values. This monitoring is particularly important in older patients and in patients who are treated at the same time as stubborn glycosides (e.g. digoxin) or medicines for drainage (diuretics). Depending on the results, your doctor may decide to reduce the dose or even cancel your treatment. Find your doctor if you suffer from sarcoidosis, an illness that mostly occurs with complaints such as fatigue, enlargement of the lymph nodes and inflammation of the lungs and other organs when you suffer from kidney disease (renal insufficiency). Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Note for diabetics:
An ideos chewing tablet contains 1.5 mg sucrose (household sugar, sucrose), 500 mg sorbitol and 700 mg xylitol. This corresponds to a daily dose of 3 mg sucrose, 1 g sorbitol and 1.4 g xylitol. The amount of carbohydrates corresponds to 0.2 bread units (BE).
Taking ideos together with other drugs:
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you take/use other medicines, have recently taken/applied other medicines or intend to accept/apply other medicines. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you apply one of the following medicines:
Herzentrant glycosides (medicines for the treatment of heart problems), since simultaneous treatment with calcium can cause more side effects and an irregular heartbeat. Clinical monitoring is necessary and monitoring using electrocardiography and/or the calcium content in the blood can be advisable.
thiaziddiuretics (medicines for the treatment of high blood pressure or water retention), since due to a lower excretion of calcium in urine, they can increase calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia).
other medicines or nutritional supplements contain vitamin D.
Medicines or nutritional supplements contain iron or zinc.
Tetracycline & Mdash, antibiotics (medicines for the treatment of bacterial infections).
Medicines that contain bisphosphonates or strontium (for the treatment of osteoporosis).
Scot (a medicine for the treatment of certain types of prostate cancer), since ideos can reduce its effect.
thyroid hormones in cases of thyroid disease.
Orlistat (medicinal products for the treatment of obesity), since it can reduce the amount of vitamin D absorbed by the body.
Keep in the following minimum points of time:
2 hours between taking ideos and iron or zinc containing medicines, bisphosphonates, estramust, thyroid hormones.
3 hours with simultaneous treatment with tetracycline & mdash, antibiotics.
Taking ideos together with food and drinks:
This medicine can develop interactions with some foods. You have to take ideos before or after meals that contain the following, for example:
oxalic acid (e.g. spinach, rhubarb, sour steamer, cocoa, tea).
phosphates (e.g. pork, ham, sausages, melting cheese, milk -containing desserts, cola -hale drinks).
phytic acid (e.g. whole grains, legumes, oil seeds, chocolate).
pregnancy and breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you think you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. During pregnancy, the daily dose should not exceed 1,500 mg calcium and 600 IE (international units) vitamin D3. Therefore, do not take more than 1 tablet a day. Long -term overdoses of calcium and vitamin D during pregnancy must be avoided, as this can lead to high calcium levels in the blood and have negative effects on the unborn child. During breastfeeding you can take ideos 500 mg/400 IE chewing tablets. Since calcium and vitamin D pass into breast milk, first consult with your doctor whether your child is already taking vitamin D-containing preparations.

3. How should IDEOS be taken?

The following symptoms can occur: loss of appetite, excessive thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, tiredness, psychological problems, increased urine excretion, bone pain , Kidney stones and in severe cases cardiac arrhythmia. If you have forgotten ideos:
don't take the double amount if you have forgotten the prior intake.

4. What side effects are possible?
Like all medicines, this medicine can also have side effects, but this does not have to occur with everyone.
Occasionally occurring side effects (for 1 to 10 users of 1000):

rarely occurring side effects (for 1 to 10 users of 10,000):
constipation, flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, itching, rashes and hives.
There can be severe allergic reactions with swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat/neck. Seldom can cause soybean oil to be partially caused by allergic reactions.

5. How is IDEOS to be kept?
