    iron salts reduce the absorption of tetracyclines, penicillamine, gold compounds, levodopa and methyldopa.

    Iron salts reduce the absorption of thyroxine in patients who receive substitution therapy with thyroxine.
    The absorption of iron is reduced by simultaneous use of cholestyramine, antacida (CA ++, MG ++, AL +++-salts) as well as calcium and magnesium supplement preparations.
    The simultaneous intake of iron salts with salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can increase the irritation of the iron on the mucus skin of the gastrointestinal tract.
    Ironbinding substances such as phosphates, pyruvates or oxalates as well as dairy products, coffee and black and green tea inhibit the iron absorption.
    Floradix with iron should either be taken half an hour before or 2 hours after these substances.
